risklin coming of being ritual

A new Risklin spends the first few years of life a sentient being, but under the control of the risklin teaching it to become a part of society and training it on its future. The new risklin accepts this without question, as they know no other way, and magically are bound to their situation.   Once the training risklin and the crystal tuners feel the being is ready to become autonomous, the risklin coming of being ritual is held.   This ceremony consists of the teacher and crystal tuners joining magical controls into the risklin for whom the ritual is being held. The transitioning risklin is fed a special raw and tainted crystal, always shimmering of multiple colors, and found rarely throughout the wastes.   Once fed the crystal, the apprentice riskline goes through an intense physical process where the crystal is integrated into the body through the mouth. The body will do anything from shudder a small amount to as extreme as exploding. Normally the risklin will shudder and colapse on the ground like it is writhing in pain.   When the integration with the crystal is complete, the risklin either dies or become a full risklin, acquiring free will, self consciousness, ability to learn and comprehend beyond the teachings with its teacher, curiousity, personality, and personal interests. The transformation is so complete, that if the risklin was not seen, it would sound like it was a normal creature. However the appearance of the risklin changes little during the tranformation with one major exception. It appears less like a machine, and more like normal race, with sentience and a being of life.
