Hakon
The Sambat star system was a massive star system by any measure, but mostly for the standard of anything in the north east of Bolgar Space. The star system, like the sector itself, and all of Ruthen Space was once Bolgar Space conquered by Furse raiders. It was also the closest Hakon had ever been to the Techo-Empire, the Empire made up of banished Techno-Mages which had so often been at war with Furse Space, Bolgar Space, Baatar Space, and any other part of the settled worlds it could reach.
The 113th legion arrived with eight light cruisers in tow, heavily damaged, gutted, and a shell of their former selves. Anything of value was taken, and sold piece by piece in the Sambat system, along with the starships, prisoners, and whatever cargo the transport held, while new cargo was loaded up.
All in all it was a profitable mission for the 113th, as the prize credits from the cruisers, and prisoners were theirs, and went into the pocket of each. The cruisers might not have been worth the roughly 70 million they had been new, but even in their ruined, and savaged state they were worth a pretty credit, and eight of them added up quickly.
It also didn’t hurt that the losses of the 113th were minor, with only a couple deaths, and handful of wounded. The prisoners also were worth a nice credit, as Sambat was a trading center for thralls, and no one batted an eye brow at outlaws being sold into the next best thing to slavery.
A couple starfighters had been destroyed, but most the pilots had ejected, and a couple members of the boarding teams had lost their lives, as had a few on the four starships of the legion as they took light damage, but it was minor compared to the almost fifty five thousand between the four starships, and it was worth it, and not just for the prize money, but for the fact that they removed eight pirate starships from teh trading route. There were more of course, how many more Hakon didn;t care to guess, but there was more.
The world of Sambat was an odd mix of Bolgar, and Furse, and Hakon was surprised by how much of the Fabian Faith he saw. There were members of the faith of both Bolgar, and Furse blood, but they were outnumbered by the Furse, but even the Baatar were a sizable sight on the world. The only thing Hakon regretted was that he didn’t have more time to explore.
The 113th was I system just long enough for the transport to take on new cargo loads to take back to the Calraida system, as the starships of the 113th did likewise to take back, sell what they could before they would take back to Jom for their own profit.
One more crossing through the Old Ruin, and they would see the end of their contract to completion. Another one after that, and they would be safely back in the Jom system.
